First post. Setting up a blog mostly so I have somewhere to dump things I figure out.

I’m Patrick, 3rd year CS student at University of Groningen.

At the moment I’m preoccupied with my wellbeing. I recently started going to the gym and eating healthier. I really enjoy going on long walks or long bike rides. I also have a plan to complete a HYROX race by summer 2027, and I’m looking for a partner for that.

Recently I learned how to solder, and I’m really proud of myself for that. I’ll buy a soldering iron when I get my first paycheck.

I work for NTT as a Layer 0 Datacenter Technician at the Google data center in Eemshaven. Inside the DC it’s one of the prettiest places I’ve ever seen, everything is so organised, and each cable is colour-coded. I’m also happy that I can swap the ear muffs for my headphones and listen to music while I’m there.

As for my music taste, here’s my Spotify profile. I love rock, metal, and electronic music. At the moment I’m obsessed with Alternosfera (a band from Moldova), Chevelle, Deftones, Linkin Park and Muse.

Last year I got into Magic: The Gathering. When I was younger I used to play a lot of Hearthstone and wanted to try something similar but physical. One of my good friends taught me how to play, and now on Fridays, if I don’t have anything better to do, I go to a casual FNM.

I also love playing video games whenever I have time. I’ve been playing League of Legends since 4th grade, and I love co-op indie games. I lean towards multiplayer, but some of my favourite single-player games are Resident Evil 8, Just Cause 3, Silent Hill 2 (Remake), Far Cry 3, Far Cry Primal, and many more.

This blog will be a mix of project writeups, things I learned, and whatever else feels worth writing down.
